Creating a piece of art called life…

A daily ritual of a spiritual practice has been a building block of peace and serenity in my life. Attempting to stay in the present moment with love and gratitude and not going back to the past in regret or sadness is part of that practice.¬† #workinprogress ūüėČ

Life has a way of planting us exactly where we need to be to learn the lessons needed to further us along on our path. There is nothing constant in this life and change is inevitable. Going through change at times can be difficult and painful, however, if we look back through life’s trials and tribulations, we can see that through all of the changes, we are growing and evolving. ¬†We graduate from college and move to a bigger city where we are then exposed to different people and cultures and we grow. We end a romantic relationship and come to find out that even though there was¬†a great deal of love and meaning in the relationship, they just were not meant to be a lifelong soul connection. We evolve and grow. Friendships, unfortunately, don’t always work out and you part ways. ¬†As painful as it may be, you grow, move along and recognize that people sometimes outgrow one another. You take the wisdom learned through the friendship and you grow and move along. There is a reason for these experiences and they do not happen in vain.

I believe that we are all interconnected within one life force by what some call source energy. Within this life force, there is a divine guidance system moving us all toward our highest potential. ¬†That potential being to live our lives with love and compassion for ourselves and others. ¬†The Divine, God, Universe (whatever you feel most comfortable with) has given each one of us the gift of life. ¬†An empty canvas to create a beautiful piece of art through our own free will if we can learn to stay present in each moment with love, compassion, and gratitude. If not, our piece of art doesn’t turn out too pretty. ¬†The brush strokes from ruminating thoughts of regret and despair can create an ugly picture and it is up to ourselves to ensure that our canvas is filled with love, light, and happiness. It may be difficult to grasp (after all we are human) yet by trusting and having faith that there is a source of energy that we are all connected to, guiding us towards a higher good, creative spaces are opened up in our lives to ensure that we live up to our highest potential. ¬†Worry, anxiety and dreading about past events, failed relationships or mistakes that we are not proud of keeps us captive in our egoic minds. ¬†A war zone of negative monkey chatter that closes off our creative life force. Reminding ourselves to stay present in the now and being grateful for the life experiences we are presently gifted with, allows us to create new space with infinite possibilities. ¬†Holding onto the past and staying hostage to the ego literally drains us from living our lives to our fullest potential. “Learn the lesson, thank the teacher and move along.” ¬† This really resonates with me. The lessons (even the toughest ones) that we are gifted with in this life are there to make us stronger and more capable human beings and are there to help us in preparation for what is yet to come in this life.

I’m reminded today to keep growing, evolving and trusting in the divine plan of love and compassion for others. By being present in the now and¬†not going backward,¬†¬†I can tap into a creative, inspired life. ¬†By allowing myself to honor each and every person who has joined me on my path whether they are still with me or not, ¬†with love and compassion, I allow myself to create a Degas (well maybe not quite a Degas, but you know what I mean). ¬†My canvas is filled with creativity, inspiration and a bright future.

If you are at peace, you are in the present” Lao Tzu

Positive vibes only…

l have recently made a conscious effort to release all negatives in life to ensure to have an open space for inspiration and creativity. ¬†One of the majors being; social media. Instead of getting off it, I decided to delete any and all negatives from it. ¬†Who needs to see young supermodels posting selfies of themselves on Instagram when you, yourself are in the heart of your mid-life. Not me! ¬†So I scroll safely now knowing that I have safeguarded myself from young models, political jargon that doesn’t resonate with me, negative people, sad people or anything for that matter that does not make me smile.

Being in what I call the “safe zone” allows scrolling to be a more pleasurable experience. ¬†Goals: ¬†Creativity and Inspiration. ¬†I came across a couple of memes this morning while scrolling with my tea in hand that put a smile on. ¬†Goals accomplished!

The first: Don’t be afraid to grow, end bad habits, leave dead-end jobs, cut off unhealthy relationships and toxic friendships. ¬†Take initiative.

BOOM! ¬†Simple. ¬†Easy. ¬†Concise. ¬†Instagram is so much more uplifting now ūüôā

Some thoughts around this: The truth that I  have found is that we have power over our lives and that can be scary.  Being complacent and comfortable is easy.  Stretching and growing can be intimidating.
Sometimes we would much rather just go along for the ride. Playing the victim is easier and more comfortable than taking responsibility and getting our hands involved in our own reality.

The ego can take a huge hit once we start waking up to the fact that we are responsible for the thoughts and actions that make us unhappy. But we have to take responsibility. We have to wake up and realize that at any given moment we control our emotions and perceptions, regardless of what occurs in the external world.

Taking control of our life isn’t pretty at first. We have to acknowledge a lot of ugliness that we have done to contribute to the messiness and once this happens, we start to see it in others and even the collective society. But once we take that step, change begins to happen and the result is the knowledge of the freedom that we have had all along which brings peace.

The second one is by Brene’ Brown whom I adore.

‘I think midlife is when the universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers in your ear:
I‚Äôm not screwing around. It‚Äôs time. All of this pretending and performing ‚Äď these coping mechanisms that you‚Äôve developed to protect yourself from feeling inadequate and getting hurt ‚Äď has to go.

This one needs no elaboration.

Letting go of the negativity never felt so good. ¬†Happy Friday ūüôā

Love and Light,

Love Wins

“God loves us.

God offers us everlasting life by grace freely through no merit on our part.

Unless you do not respond the right way.

Then God will torture you. Forever. ¬†In hell. ¬†Huh?” Love Wins by¬†¬†ROB BELL

As controversial as it is, to me, hell isn’t a place, it’s a state of mind. A state of mind that has been taken over by the negative ego-monkey chatter of fear based thinking that pulls you away from Love. Love in your mind, produces love in your life. This is the meaning of heaven. Fear in your mind produces fear in your life. This is the meaning of Hell. God is Love. God is Forgiveness. God is Humility. God is Grace. I’m talking about the alpha and the omega. The omniscient. The omnipresent. The ultimate consciousness. The source. The all of everything there is.

The one and only G.O.D.

Happy Sunday ūüôā

Raise your vibration

‘As you perceive something,
you give birth to a thought
and this thought now thinks.
Now that it exists,
now that it has been conjured,
now that it has been focused,
now it vibrates.
Now, by Law of attraction, other thoughts that are vibrationally same will come to it.
So it begins its expansion immediately.’
The universe aligns itself with whatever frequency we are emitting out. If we are sending out loving thoughts which are of a high vibration, loving experiences come back to us. If we are sending out fear based thoughts, negative experiences in life will be sent back to us. The Feelings of resentment, anger, jealousy, defeat, regret, sadness‚Ķ are all low vibrations. By shifting our subconscious minds from fear based thoughts to a more loving perspective, we are able to raise our vibration and then attract more love and abundance into our life. The key is to be aware of our thoughts our subconscious mind is having. Once we are aware, we can do the work on shifting our perceptions. Eckart Tolle says ” Awareness is the greatest agent for change”. By being aware of our thoughts we are able to make positive shifts in our lives.
Some quick ways I  have learned to help raise my vibration:
GRATITUDE. Even in our darkest moments when we feel blah, there are still so many things in our life to be grateful for that we take sometimes take for granted. We all have a tendency to get lost in our ego mind (or what I call negative monkey chatter) which focuses on negative, fear based thoughts. I have found that if I commit to a daily gratitude list it helps to pull myself out of any negative chatter. If I can’t think of anything to be grateful for because it’s just one of those blah days, I start with the basics: my eye sight, the ability to hear music, to feel the ground beneath my feet while walking in the grass. All these can be taken for granted and by recognizing them, we can bring ourselves back in alignment to the present moment of the here and now, which is all there really is anyway right?
FORGIVENESS. Now this can be a tricky one.
Marianne Williamson says
“Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it and yet there is no peace without forgiveness.”
Forgiveness does not excuse their behavior, forgiveness prevents their behavior from destroying your heart. You free yourself of the bitterness that holding onto a grudge will create. Forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay or that they should even be welcome in your life. It just means that you have made peace with the pain and are ready to let it go.
If you are harboring negative thoughts towards another person, try praying for them and and send them loving thoughts of love, kindness and compassion. Forgiveness is the most powerful thing we can do for ourselves on the spiritual path. If we can’t learn to forgive, then we can forget about getting to higher levels of awareness. Not only does it make us feel better but it helps create a more loving, less hostile world we live in.
The universe matches whatever frequency we are throwing out, so being mindful of our thoughts helps to shift our perceptions from negative to positive. I have started a ¬†morning practice with just five minutes a day with a meditation mantra of “I am love, I am compassion” and have seen the shift! ¬†Miracles really do happen. ūüôā

Hope this helps whoever is reading this. ¬†It has helped me ūüôā

One of my favorite Authors, Don Miguel Ruiz, the father of Toltec wisdom says “Our emotions are real; the voice of knowledge that makes us suffer is not. Our suffering is true, but the reason why we suffer may not be true at all.” This got me to thinking about the all elusive, ever-changing quite conversation that goes on in the subconscious mind. So quiet yet; if you pay close attention..it actually screams louder than the conversations you have with yourself to make it shut the eff up. I call it the monkey chatter… Zen masters call it the ego. Don Miguel calls it the voice of knowledge. Either way, I am eager to read his latest book and dive deeper into his philosophy regarding suffering and the ego.

Life is a trip and no matter how “in control” we believe we may be… there is always the underlying voice of distraction that gets in the way of transcending to our full potential. I heard someone say recently “You want to know God?…start looking at your blessings.” This really resonated with me. It’s when deep within our heads, listening to the “story book” that our subconscious mind (monkey chatter) is telling us, that we lose site of all the things surrounding us that we have to be grateful for. We lose site of the secret of GIVING and become victims to a reality that is most likely, false. The stories are washed down, muddied versions of past events that have created a shield of self-defense to protect the Ego. Stories that began farther back than our memories allow us to go sometimes. Laying deep within our psyche. Yes, there is the “reality” that connects all of us, however, how much of our interpretation of that reality is actually real vs the monkey chatter going on in the back of our head?

Well….. I say screw the Ego. I want to know God.
I choose to look for the blessings, focus on them… and transcend them.

Thank you, Don Miguel, for the reminder to inquire…

This is not philosophy, this is physics…

Imagination is always manufacturing scenarios both good and bad and the ego tries to keep you trapped in the multiplex of the mind. Our eyes are not only viewers, they are also projectors that are running a second story over the picture that we see in front of us all the time. Fear is writing that script and the working title is “I will never be enough”. This is the voice of the EGO. And if you listen to it, you will create for yourself a life of lack and dissatisfaction. There are infinite possibilities in this vast life. Listen to your inner guidance system which is your soul. Your faith in yourself is stronger than any fear based thinking that the egoic mind wants you to believe in.
“Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality that you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not Philosophy. This is Physics.” Albert Einstein
